The Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) has chosen a 16-year-old girl from South Dinajpur for a training program aimed at developing future space scientists.
To participate in the program, Arpita Saha, a Class IX student at Patiram Vivekananda Girls' High School in Patiram, departed for Sriharikota on Thursday.
According to sources, she took part in the national entrance exam for the Young Scientist Program, or YUVIKA (YUva VIgyani KAryakram), on March 1 and was chosen for the training.
"I'll be spending twenty-five days at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. I would receive 14 days of instruction in astronomy, space science, and related fields while I was there. This curriculum will undoubtedly assist me in my future endeavors to study space science," the youngster stated.
She will get the opportunity to visit the center and study several space science-related courses throughout the remaining days.
Her mother Jharna stays at home while her father Dipankar is a dealer.
"It's fantastic that my daughter may now participate in Isro training at this age. She was selected for the training from our rural village, where we reside," the father remarked.
Teachers have also expressed gratitude for Arpita's choice. Upasan Mondal, a different kid at the institution, had received a comparable opportunity, according to Labani Sarkar, the instructor in charge of her school.
Arpita has now succeeded. She does well academically, and we think she will eventually want to pursue space science," Sarkar added.
The teacher stated that the school will arrange for Arpita to speak to other pupils about her experience after she returns.
