The Railway Men: A Tribute to the Unsung Heroes of Bhopal Gas Tragedy

At the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa on Wednesday, actor Kay Kay Menon and director Shiv Rawail discussed the process of creating the four-part thriller series, which is produced by Yash Raj Films and Netflix.
Speaking about his first film as director, which is based on the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, Shiv said the crew and actors put a lot of effort into the performance while keeping the real-life characters' sensitivity in mind. "Because many families have an emotional attachment to the tragedy, it is our duty as producers, directors, writers, and actors to be sensitive to the pain."
The director added that they did not spare any detail in portraying the actual tragedy that took place on December 2–3, 1984, at the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant in Bhopal.
Screenwriter Aayush Gupta discussed the concept for The Railway Men, stating that it was intended to highlight the bravery of the railroad employees who had organized rescue operations, which in turn inspired the entire country to come together and save lives.
The drama series, which also stars R Madhavan, Babil Khan, and Divyenndu, debuted on Netflix on November 18.
One of the main actors in the recently released four-episode web series, Kay Kay Menon, said, "The series is a tribute to the valour of Railway Men that we all take for granted; it gives space to the unsung heroes, especially those who sacrifice themselves to save people on that fateful night of Bhopal Gas Tragedy."
The series' station master at Bhopal's railway station, Kay Kay, said he was drawn to the character's honesty and proceeded to investigate the breadth and height of the role within a specific context.
