Three Bangladeshi Tourists Killed in Fire at Srinagar Houseboats

A major fire that destroyed seven residential residences and five houseboats in Srinagar on Sunday claimed the lives of three Bangladeshi visitors.

When the houseboats caught fire in the early hours of the morning, officials moved to save the inhabitants and put out the fire.

Three male visitors from Bangladesh were killed in the incident. The Safina group of houseboats' owner, Mohammad Asif, told Press Time, "I don't have their names because their documents got burned during the fire."

"We have lost seven nearby residential buildings and five houseboats, totaling almost Rs 20 crore. After the sad event, I was in Delhi and arrived back in the afternoon.

The dead visitors were identified by the police as Anindaya Kowshal, Das Gupta, and Mohammad Moinud.

The Safina, Sabreena, Young Gulshan, Lala Rukh, and Khar Palace houseboats were among the five that were immediately consumed by the fire, according to the police.

"The subsequent fire completely destroyed seven residential huts and nearby houses," a police spokesperson said.

When Aijaz Asad, the deputy commissioner of Srinagar, visited the location throughout the day, he said that all of the people had been rescued.

The fire caused damage to many nearby houses and five houseboats located across from Ghat number 9. Every agency involved, such as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Jammu and Kashmir police, the fire department, and emergency services, made an effort to contain the fire. Asad informed reporters that locals and visitors had been evacuated and moved to secure locations right away.

Four other houseboats had the potential to catch fire, but they were quickly moved, preventing more damage. No one's death was permitted, as I said.

The statements made by authorities that they are doing enough to avoid deaths have come under scrutiny after the deaths of three foreign visitors.

Meeting in Pulwama

According to authorities, there was a confrontation between militants and security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama area on Saturday.

"The #Encounter has begun in Pulwama's Parigam region. There are security and police personnel on duty. More information would be provided later, the Kashmir Zone Police said on X.

Officials said that in response to intelligence on terrorist activity in the Parigam area, the army and police began a cordon and search operation.

After a short gunfight between the terrorists and the security personnel, the search was stepped up and the perimeter was strengthened, according to the police.

They also said that no casualties have been recorded as of yet.
