Tragic Incident in Surat: Four Family Members Found Dead in Apartment

Four family members were discovered dead in an apartment in Surat, Gujarat, following a tragic incident. Four family members were discovered deceased in an apartment in Surat city on Saturday in a tragic occurrence. A 58-year-old woman, her two sisters, and her brother-in-law are among the deceased.

The victims have been identified as Jasuben Vadhel, the owner of the flat, her sisters Shantaben Vadhel (53) and Gauriben Mevad (55), and Gauriben’s husband Hirabhai (60). The police were alerted about the bodies around 9 am.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) R P Barot, the victims had gone to bed around 10 pm on Friday. “Jasuben’s son went to check on them around 8 am and found them lying unconscious. He immediately informed the police,” Barot said.

The victims had vomited, and samples from the scene have been sent for examination. The bodies have been sent for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Even though the investigation is still underway, Barot says that the preliminary results point to asphyxiation as the possible cause of the victims' deaths. He said, "A gas-powered geyser was found running in the apartment, which could have caused an oxygen shortage."

The DCP made it very clear that the cause of death is still unknown. We are looking into every possibility. Suicide seems unlikely at this time," he continued.

This horrific incident has shook the neighborhood and brought attention to the possible risks associated with gas-powered appliances. As the inquiry develops, more details will be given.
