Bratya Basu, the minister of education for West Bengal, said on Thursday that he is unsure if a code of conduct regarding teachers' after-hours activities can exist.

His remarks coincided with the viral success of a video that seemed to show the headmaster of a primary school in the Howrah region shaking a leg with a female vocalist at a cultural event. PTI was unable to independently confirm if the video was legitimate.

"We have to see if the person concerned was showing his skill in dancing after school hours or during school hours; whether he was dancing with Rabindra Sangeet (Tagore song)," Basu said reporters when they inquired about the video. You have informed me of it, and I will investigate." There will be a code of conduct for teachers, according to the West Bengal Board of Primary Education, which also said that it is looking into the matter.

In response to a query, Basu said, "I don't know whether rules can still control people's behavior in the modern day. I'll speak with the main board to get all the information. People's dress has altered in this globalization period, and there is a physical growth of visual content." In this regard, he made the observation that journalists' clothing has evolved throughout time.

The days of scribes wearing kurta pyjamas and carrying pens and notebooks are long gone, according to Basu. They now carry booms to record proceedings, cell phones, and denim pants.

He said, "The matter is pending in courts," in reference to the selection of instructors for certain subjects at state-run institutions. We will begin the hiring process as soon as the legal maze is resolved."
