Vir Das Takes on Dual Role: Co-Directing and Starring in Upcoming Indian Movie
International Emmy Award-Winning Comedian Announces New Project and Reflects on Journey
Comedian-actor Vir Das, who won an International Emmy Award for his Netflix special Vir Das: Landing, has revealed on social media on Monday that he would co-direct and appear in an upcoming Indian movie.
"Go back to India the next day. I am pleased to report that I will not be touring for the next three months. Obtain a bed in the same room. Establish a schedule. Put down some roots. The 44-year-old added, "Also...co-direct and star in a movie," to X (formerly Twitter).
In response to the news, filmmaker Nikkhil Advani said he hoped to see Vir again whenever he got back to India. "Aaah. I see where you made it slip in. Advani said, "Meet up when you're back," in response to Vir's message.
In another video that Vir posted, dubbed "Undeniable," he looks back on his previous hardships as an American graduate of brown theater who had four part-time jobs. Speaking to 3,900 spectators at the Chicago Theatre, Das states in the film, "I'd assume...that I am one of the only or may be the only person with my accent to ever sell out the theatre."
Head back to India tomorrow. Very very happy to announce for the next three months I will NOT be touring. Get to sleep in the same bed. Have a routine. Plant some roots.

Vir made his acting debut in Namastey London (2007). He has also starred in other Bollywood films, including Shivaay (2016), Revolver Rani (2014), Go Goa Gone (2013), Delhi Belly (2011), and Love Aaj Kal (2009).
The eccentric hotel owner Ronjon was played by Vir Das in Judd Apatow's comedy The Bubble, which was released in 2022. In addition, he appeared in a Fresh Off the Boat episode on ABC starring Nahnatchka Khan.
