Supernatural thriller dominates despite being in second week, while Yodha falls short

Despite being in its second week of release, Sidharth Malhotra's hijack thriller Yodha, which stars Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Joyotika, lost to the Sidharth Malhotra-starring supernatural thriller Shaitaan at the box office, taking in Rs 23.3 crore nett compared to the latter's Rs 16.85 crore, according to entertainment data-tracking platform Scnilk.

With a first-day gross of Rs 4.1 crore nett, Yodha, directed by Sagar Ambre and starring Pushkar Ojha, made a relatively low amount of money compared to other top-grossing Hindi films of the year, such as Fighter (Rs 23 crore nett), Shaitaan (Rs 14.75 crore nett), and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs 6.7 crore nett). On Saturday, Shaitaan was able to make Rs 5.75 crore net. Sunday's profits increased to Rs 7 crore nett, bringing the film's three-day total receipts to Rs 16.85 crore nett.


Yodha, which is produced by Dharma Productions, was initially scheduled to open in theaters in July 2023. However, there were multiple delays before the film opened this Friday. In addition to Sidharth, Ronit Roy, Sunny Hinduja, Raashii Khanna, and Disha Patani are also featured in the hijack thriller.

In the meantime, Vikas Bahl's Shaitaan opened its second week at the domestic box office on Friday with a collection of Rs 5.05 crore nett, after grossing Rs 79.75 crore nett during its first week in theaters. The earnings on Saturday and Sunday were Rs 8.5 crore nett and Rs 9.75 crore nett, respectively, after this. With this, the film's 10-day total receipts in India now stand at Rs 103.05 crore nett. In the ten days since its debut, the supernatural thriller has brought in a total of Rs 133 crore globally.

On the other hand, Yodha and Bastar: The Naxal Story, starring Adah Sharma, opened in theaters on the same day and made Rs 2.25 crore nett in three days.
