Abhishek Banerjee to Attend Delhi Rally, Skip ED Summons
Trinamul MP Says He Won't Be Stopped from Standing Up for WB Citizens
Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of the Trinamul Congress, said on Friday that he would be present for the party's protest events in Delhi the following week and that he would not be appearing for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday in the ED's Calcutta office.
Abhishek has declined to respond to an ED summons twice this year because of a previously publicized political program. Although he was still busy with the Trinamuley Nabo Jowar mass connect event on June 13, the ED asked him to appear before it, and he had written to them requesting a different time.
"Despite the challenges, the fight against the denial of WB and its just rewards must continue. No power on Earth can stop me from standing up for WB citizens and their basic rights, the Diamond Harbour MP posted on X at 11:18am on Friday.
He continued, "I'll be in Delhi on October 2nd and 3rd supporting the demonstration. "STOP ME IF YOU CAN!"
In a little more than four months, he had received summonses from a central investigation agency four times on days when political programs had been announced in advance.
This year, on May 20, while leading the Trinamuley Nabo Jowar mass outreach campaign, he spent nine hours in front of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Calcutta. He missed the initial meeting of the anti-BJP national coalition INDIA coordination committee on September 13 by spending nine hours in front of the ED.
After receiving the most recent summons from the ED on Thursday, ordering him to appear at 10.30am on Tuesday, sources close to Abhishek made it plain that he had no intention of skipping the Delhi programs.
He had no problem following the ED summons since he is fearless and in the right. He has done it so frequently in the past, yet his spine is still ramrod straight, according to a Trinamul MP.
