The official trailer for the forthcoming biopic on singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, which offers an insight into the late singer's life, depicts a difficult love story that set the path for the Grammy-winning record Back to Back.

The trailer for the Sam Taylor-Johnson-directed movie, which was released by the producers on Friday, shows Winehouse's life as it progresses as she overcomes obstacles in her personal life and goes through court cases.

Marisa Abela plays the protagonist in the movie Back to Back, which also stars Jack O'Connell as the late singer's ex-husband and production assistant, Blake Fielder-Civil. In 2008, the album of the same name took home five Grammys.

Abela Winehouse may be seen playing the guitar in her room at the opening of the two minutes and seventeen second trailer. Her only ambition since elementary school has been to write music that helps listeners forget their troubles. From an early age, Winehouse drew inspiration from jazz musician Sara Vaughan and rapper Lauryn Hill.

Following her complete and total love for a guy she met at a Camden pool table, Winehouse begins to fantasize about having a family. "I don't believe my purpose for being here is to sing. The singer adds, "I want to be your wife and a mother," to Fielder in Connell. After experiencing a setback, she uses her anguish to create the ground-breaking album Back to Black, which goes on to become the highest charting record ever for a British female artist in the United States.

The teaser also stars Eddie Marsan as Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse, Juliet Cowan as Amy's mother Janis, and Lesley Manville as Cynthia, her grandmother. Rehab, the singer's award-winning track, is playing in the background.

According to reports, Fielder introduced Winehouse to drugs, and their tumultuous relationship is often blamed for Amy's tragic 2011 alcohol overdose death.

Back to Black, written by Matt Greenhalgh and produced by Debra Hayward, will open in theaters on May 17.
