Bnei Menashe Community in Mizoram Holds Prayers for Israel's Safety After Hamas Attack

Since Sunday, when Hamas attacked the nation with a majority of Jews, a relief camp in Mizoram housing 170 internally displaced Kuki-Zo people from Manipur who are members of the Jewish community of Bnei Menashe has been holding special prayers for the "safety of Israel" every evening.

Members of the Kuki-Zo tribe who identify as Bnei Menashe are descended from a "lost tribe" mentioned in the Bible. They continue to practice Judaism and regard Israel as their "spiritual and religious" homeland.

Members of the Bnei Menashe community reside primarily in Kuki-Mizo communities in Manipur and Mizoram in the Northeast.

In the Kolasib district of Mizoram, 170 prisoners are residing in a relief camp. J. Haokip, a member of the Bnei Menashe Council from Churachandpur district, told The Telegraph that the inmates are holding special prayers and candlelight vigil "in solidarity with the victims of the Hamas attack, the safety of Israel, the Israel Defence Force and others safeguarding Israel."

He claimed that similar prayers were being held by other members of Bnei Menashe from Mizoram and Manipur.
