In the presence of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Bollywood set designer turned politician Mukesh Sahni, also known by his self-styled moniker "Son of Mallah" (son of boatman), and his Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) joined the Opposition Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar on Friday.

It plans to run in the state's three Lok Sabha seats: Gopalganj, Motihari, and Jhanjharpur.

Sahni's attempts to get on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) bandwagon were unsuccessful a few days before to this decision, since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) only promised him one seat in the elections.

The Nishad caste (boatmen and fishermen) and its sub-castes, which make up more than 7% of the state's 13 crore inhabitants, are allegedly behind Sahni.

Tejashwi celebrated Sahni's decision to join the Mahagathbandhan and said it was a significant move that would strengthen the alliance in the state.

"Seat-sharing within the coalition for the Lok Sabha elections has already been declared. The constituencies have been divided between the Left parties and the Congress. Thus, the RJD, which was granted 26 seats to run for, has chosen to award Sahni three of its quota seats. Tejashwi said, "Lalu Prasad, the national head of our party, made this choice.

"The VIP is going to run for seats in Gopalganj, Jhanjharpur, and Motihari. In addition to running jointly in the Lok Sabha elections, we'll run in the Assembly elections as well," he said.

The leader of the RJD further said that people (read: the BJP) shouting slogans about gaining over 400 seats in the next general elections will perish in Bihar.

"We are witnessing the state of affairs in which the Constitution is under threat and a dictatorship is being adopted." They want to obliterate variety, fraternity, peace, and harmony. Let me assure you, no one has the authority to alter the nation's Constitution or eradicate democracy," Tejashwi said.

In addition, the RJD spokesman said that BJP officials had openly discussed abolishing the Constitution in the event that they secured over 400 seats in the next elections.

Speaking at the event, Sahni said that he supported RJD leader Lalu Prasad's philosophy, which was centered on the welfare of the underprivileged, oppressed, and backward people. "I left the opulent life of Bombay to labor and fight for our people after seeing hundreds of their problems. I started a political party and campaigned for them. Despite the fact that the BJP established the government with our help, you all saw how they bought our MLAs, divided our party, and forced us out of office. We had worked hard and made the decision to live with our heads held high.
