CBI Busts Nationwide Child Trafficking Network, Rescues Three Infants

On Friday, the CBI arrested seven of the accused, who were reportedly using social media to sell infants to childless couples, breaking up a nationwide network of child traffickers.

The operation, which included raids on many sites in Delhi and Haryana, resulted in the rescue of three babies, according to agency authorities on Saturday.

In response to a tip, the CBI searched seven places in Delhi and Haryana on Friday night and found two male newborns who were one day and fifteen days old and one female baby who was one month old.

The defendant reportedly made contact with childless couples using Facebook and WhatsApp adverts.

"They reportedly bought kids from both biological parents and surrogate moms, then sold the newborns for between Rs 4 and Rs 6 lakh each. The CBI officer said that the suspects were also responsible for defrauding several childless couples out of thousands of rupees by forging adoption-related paperwork.

According to an initial investigation, the scheme crosses state lines, and a number of hospitals are also being investigated.
