Cillian Murphy Wins Best Actor Oscar for Oppenheimer at 96th Academy Awards

Murphy expressed his gratitude to Emma Thomas, the producer, and director Christopher Nolan for leading him on the “wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey over the last twenty years” in his victory speech.

Even though Oppenheimer is proud of the film's supporting cast, which includes Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., and who won the best actor in a supporting role award for the movie, the film's success hinged on Murphy's performance as a multifaceted and nuanced character, which he did brilliantly.

Murphy was a favorite for the Oscars despite this being his first nomination, having won awards for his performance at the BAFTAs, SAG Awards, and Golden Globes.
