Commuters Warned of Possible Traffic Disruption Due to Farmers' Protest in Delhi

In light of a planned farmers' demonstration in the nation's capital on Thursday, police warned commuters on Wednesday that traffic may slow down on the Noida-Delhi roads.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar police said that there might be detours to Noida roads close to the Delhi border, where "intensive" vehicle inspections will take place prior to granting access to the city.

An assembly known as the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, which unites farmers' organizations, has declared that it will convene a 'Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat' in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, where a resolution to "intensify the fight" against the central government's policies will be ratified.

It's also possible that farmer groups from western Uttar Pradesh would take part in the initiative.

According to officials, the farmers' assembly has been granted permission by the Delhi Police, subject to two restrictions: neither the number of attendees nor the use of tractor trolleys in the vicinity of the event may exceed 5,000.

"The general public is informed that a protest by farmers over their demands is proposed on Thursday," the police stated.

"During this programme, intensive checking will be done by the Delhi Police and the Gautam Buddh Nagar police by installing barriers on all the borders between Noida and Delhi, due to which, in case of an increase in traffic pressure on the routes from Gautam Buddh Nagar to Delhi border, traffic can be diverted as per requirement," said the statement.

"You can call the traffic helpdesk at 9971009001 if there is any problem due to traffic. Police advised travelers to "please use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience."

Additionally, the Delhi Police has released a traffic alert asking commuters to stay off of routes that lead into downtown Delhi.
