In response to Anantkumar Hegde's statement regarding changing the Constitution, the Congress attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, questioning if he would take legal action against the BJP MP to show his support for the document.

Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, questioned Prime Minister Modi five times, taking aim at him while he was visiting Gujarat and Rajasthan.

In Ahmedabad for the Sabarmati Ashram Memorial Project, the prime minister is present. Will the prime minister adhere to Mahatma Gandhi's principles of non-violence, inclusion, and equality even as he embraces the Mahatma for his political gain?" he said in a post on X.

In addition, the Congress leader questioned whether Prime Minister Modi would take personal responsibility for upholding the Constitution, to which he took an oath to be true to faith and allegiance, by taking action against Karnataka BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde.

Hegde stated that the BJP required a two-thirds majority in both Houses of Parliament to change the Constitution and "put right the distortions and unnecessary additions made to it by the Congress" during a rally in Karwar, Karnataka, on Saturday.

Ramesh also challenged PM Modi to explain the 14 document leaks that have happened in Gujarat over the past seven years in his questions to the prime minister.

In order to address the issue, the Congress has unveiled a comprehensive strategy called "Paper Leak se Mukti" as part of its Yuva Nyay pledges. What is the Prime Minister's intended course of action? He stated.

According to Ramesh, Gujarat does poorly when compared to other states on important development indicators.

Compared to poorer states like Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Gujarat does worse in terms of student retention in higher secondary education and spends less on public education. Among the 20 largest states, Gujarat today has the 10th-highest percentage of its people living below the poverty line," he stated.

"Gujarat ranks 15th out of 20 states in terms of sex ratio, despite the prime minister's public posturing on "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao." In what way does PM Modi balance the 'Gujarat Model' he introduced in 2014 with the 'Double Engine' Sarkar model he promotes today, given the fact that Gujarat is a socio-economically backward state? stated the leader of the Congress.

According to Ramesh, Prime Minister Modi will also travel to Pokhran, Rajasthan, which was made famous by Indira Gandhi exactly 50 years ago as the location of India's first "peaceful nuclear explosion." The purpose of the tour is to commemorate India's domestic defense capabilities, which, ironically, have evolved in spite of Modi's best efforts.

"Defense spending as a percentage of the Union Budget decreased from 17.43% in FY19 to 12% in FY25. Between 2014 and 2024, it decreased as a proportion of GDP from 2.13 to 1.9%, falling short of the global average of at least 2%," he stated.

Ramesh questioned the prime minister's plans to protect India's border and give China the "Lal aankh" (red eye) in the absence of sufficient funding for the military forces.

"In a similar spirit, over the past three years, the prime minister has formed two committees to look into potential privatization or closure options for the DRDO. According to reports, the K Vijay Raghavan committee recommended that the DRDO's purview be restricted to research and development, with no involvement in the creation of prototypes or technological demonstrations," the speaker stated.

Instead, a few chosen private parties would handle all production and additional development. Why is defense research and development being privatized, according to the prime minister? Is it an attempt to use a backdoor to get his preferred industrialist pals inside the industry?" Ramesh enquired.
