Congress unveils first list of candidates for MP, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, but keeps Rajasthan waiting

The Congress kept Rajasthan waiting on Sunday when it unveiled its initial names of candidates for the elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana—possibly as a result of the rivalry between state minister Ashok Gehlot and party challenger Sachin Pilot.

Since the three states' proclaimed lists are seen as balanced and motivated more by winnability than by factional influences, the central leadership does not anticipate any significant uprisings from disgruntled candidates.

Late in the evening, there were reports of protests from Telangana, when the supporters of a few defeated candidates raised a disturbance at the party headquarters in Hyderabad. Conflicts and emotional outbursts were also reported from other regions of the state.

While some disturbances are unavoidable, insiders claim that senior party leaders in all three states were working toward a same goal, hence the kind of unrest experienced in the BJP camp will not be seen in the Congress.

Social media users were agitated by an alleged “resignation letter” from Madhya Pradesh veteran Digvijaya Singh, but it was quickly shown to be untrue.

According to the alleged "letter," Digvijaya said he felt forced to resign because he could no longer stand the injustices meted out to devoted party members. Digvijaya swiftly intervened to reveal the falsehood, even though if this event had been real, it would have completely wrecked the party's chances in the heartland state.

The former chief minister wrote on X, "The BJP is an expert in lying." In 1971, I entered the Congress based on my intellectual convictions rather than any job offer. I will serve in the Congress until the day I die. In opposition to this scam, I'm making a police report.

Although the author of the "letter" is unknown, it was clearly a ploy to confuse congressional staff members and encourage them to voice their disapproval of the candidates' selections.

The Congress has done a far better job of handling the factional strains than the

BJP, having realized from Karnataka that success requires senior leaders to work together.

Party officials declared that factional lobbying had been deliberately ignored.

to select the top contender from each constituency, as everyone was aware of how important these elections were.

The party has placed a strong emphasis on youth in Madhya Pradesh, as evidenced by the fact that 65 of the 144 candidates announced on Sunday are under the age of 55. There are 230 seats available in the state overall.

Apart from the SC and ST candidates chosen for the reserved seats, 39 of the 144 applicants selected thus far are OBCs, and 19 are female.

Kamal Nath has been fielded from his native constituency of Chhindwara. He refrained from contesting the previous election to guarantee himself the freedom to campaign.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is facing opposition from the party's political novice, TV actor Vikram Mastal, who previously portrayed Hanuman in a serialized adaptation of the Ramayan. Mastal is running for the Budhni seat. The previous time, Arun Yadav, the head of the state Congress, had attempted to confront Chouhan but had failed.

All of Chhattisgarh's leading figures, including Speaker of the Assembly Charandas Mahant, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singhdeo, Ministers Tamradhwaj Sahu and Ravindra Choubey, Mohan Makram, and Kawasi Lakma, have been re-nominated.

Chavindra Karma, the son of the late Mahendra Karma, has taken the position of his wife Devati Karma, who had previously run for office. Eight MLAs in office now do not have tickets.

The Congress announced 55 candidates for Telangana on Sunday. All of the top officials, including Revanth Reddy, the president of the state unit, have been nominated here as well. On October 18, the initial roster for Rajasthan is anticipated.
