In Sitong, Darjeeling, a 50-foot-tall monument of Ari Bahadur Gurung, a Constituent Assembly representative for the hill and a signatory to the Constitution, will be erected.

There will also be a museum there that highlights the Gorkhas' selflessness and their role in the struggle for Indian independence.

We have obtained around two acres of property in the Kurseong subdivision located in Sitong, where the state of Ari Bahadur Gurung will be established. In addition to the monument, the Ari Bahadur Gurung Foundation president, Amit Gurung, told reporters in Siliguri on Saturday, "We will also open a museum to honor the brave Gorkha soldiers' sacrifice and their role in India's freedom struggle."

The project will be located in Lower Mamring village in Sitong in Kurseong subdivision and is anticipated to be finished in two years.

Renowned attorney Ari Bahadur served as the region's representative in the Constituent Assembly and signed the document when it was approved on November 26, 1949.

At Lal Khoti, the hill body's headquarters, the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) has also constructed a monument of Ari Bahadur.

On November 26, 2015, the hill body also gave Ari Bahadur a posthumous felicitation. The final breath of Ari Bahadur was taken on July 4, 1980.

The project's overall cost is anticipated to be close to Rs 4 crore, according to the organizers.
