Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha Stages Protest Over Alleged Assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal

New Delhi - A protest was staged near Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Friday morning by members of the Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha. The protest was in response to the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal by Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Kejriwal.

The protest was led by Mahila Morcha president, Richa Pandey Mishra. The protesters, who were carrying bangles, demanded Kejriwal’s resignation over his silence on the incident. Mishra stated that the Mahila Morcha intended to hand over the bangles to Kejriwal as a symbol of his inaction over the incident involving Maliwal that took place at his official residence.

On Thursday, the Delhi Police registered an FIR in connection with Maliwal’s alleged assault. Kumar, the personal assistant of Kejriwal, was named as an accused in the FIR. The FIR was registered after a two-member team led by Additional Commissioner of Police P S Kushwaha recorded Maliwal’s statement. The team spent nearly four and a half hours at Maliwal’s residence in central Delhi.

Kumar has been summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday over the matter. The NCW’s involvement underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the need for a thorough investigation.

The protest by the Mahila Morcha highlights the ongoing tension and political unrest in the capital, with the alleged assault on Maliwal serving as a flashpoint for broader concerns about women’s safety and political accountability.
