Delhi Borders Fortified Ahead of Farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' March

Before the farmers' planned "Delhi Chalo" march on February 13, traffic restrictions and increased security measures have been implemented at the national capital's borders with Singhu, Ghazipur, and Tikri.

Iron nails and concrete blocks have been used to fortify the boundaries in order to keep protesting cars out of the city.

Commuters experienced disruptions on Monday morning due to the traffic flow in Delhi's border regions as a result of the measures.

One of the requirements they had set when they decided to end their protest in 2021 was a legislation guaranteeing MSP for their crop. A number of farmer groups, mostly from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, have called for the march on February 13 to seek this law.

On Sunday, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora checked the security measures at the city's borders with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

An notice released here states that commercial vehicle traffic has been restricted at the Singhu border since Monday. It said that starting on Tuesday, all vehicle categories are subject to the limitations.

Over 5,000 security guards have been sent by the police, and enormous containers are being blocked by earthmovers and cranes.

Several border security obstacles have already been erected to prevent farmers from accessing the nation's capital. Roads have been marked with nails so that, according to the government, if the farmers who are demonstrating attempt to drive into the city, their tires would be punctured.

To preserve peace and order, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) have been put into effect in Delhi's northeastern area.
