Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Summoned by ED in Alleged "Fake" Case: AAP Alleges Political Vendetta
Delhi Education Minister and AAP leader Atishi Singh addresses a press conference

Atishi Sunday, a senior AAP leader and minister for Delhi, revealed that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has received a new summons from the Enforcement Directorate to participate in their investigation into a "fake" case connected to the Delhi Jal Board.

"Nobody is aware of the details of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) case. At a press conference held here, she asserted, "This appears to be a backup plan to arrest Kejriwal anyhow and stop him from campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls."

Atishi stated that shortly after the Lok Sabha poll date was announced on Saturday, two summonses requesting Kejriwal to appear before the federal agency the following week were received. She continued, saying that one of them has to do with the excise policy matter and the other with the DJB.

The AAP leader accused the BJP of using the CBI and ED as its "goons" to eliminate political rivals.

The ED and the CBI did not respond to this right away.

Chief Minister Kejriwal has been called in by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to be questioned on March 18 about a money laundering investigation related to purported anomalies in the DJB. This is the second instance in which the 55-year-old politician, who is also the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, has been called upon under the anti-money laundering statute.

Additionally, he has been given a notice to appear for interrogation in the money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy. To date, Kejriwal has ignored eight summonses in this lawsuit, claiming they are unlawful.

In response to two complaints the agency had made against Kejriwal for allegedly ignoring summonses in this case, a Delhi judge on Saturday granted him bail.
