According to the box office tracking website Sacnilk, Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki has already made approximately Rs 15 crore nett from advance bookings with over 5.5 lakh tickets sold on its opening day.

Shah Rukh and director Rajkumar Hirani, who is renowned for producing huge blockbusters like 3 Idiots, PK, and Sanju, are working together for the first time on Dunki. The comedy drama, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and Boman Irani, is predicted to bring in Rs 30-34 crore nett on its first day in India.

Although the estimated Day 1 collection is impressive, it is not as successful as Shah Rukh's two previous blockbusters from earlier this year.

With an opening weekend of Rs 57 crore nett (Rs 55 crore nett in Hindi), Siddharth Anand's action-packed thriller Pathaan broke box office records in January. With a huge opening of Rs 75 crore nett (Rs 65.50 crore nett in Hindi) for Atlee's masala action film Jawan in September, Shah Rukh broke his own record. In the end, both movies brought in more than Rs 1000 crore globally.

However, Prabhas' pan-India action film Salaar, which is scheduled for release one day later on December 22, presents Dunki with fierce competition at the box office. According to industry reports, Salaar has sold 13.9 lakh tickets for Rs 29 crore nett on its opening day, indicating that it has received excellent advance bookings.
