ED Raids West Bengal Food Minister Rathin Ghosh's Home in Civic Body Recruitment Scam Probe
Searches Launched at 13 Locations in Kolkata, North 24 Parganas
The West Bengal Food and Supplies Minister Rathin Ghosh's home was among the places where the Enforcement Directorate (ED) started searching on Thursday as part of its investigation into alleged irregularities in the recruitment processes used by the state's civic bodies, according to officials.
Around 6.10 am, they claimed, the investigators and a sizable number of central forces arrived at Ghosh's home in Michaelnagar, North 24 Parganas district.
They continued by saying that the investigators started searching 12 additional locations at the same time.
If Ghosh was home when the searches started was not immediately known.
Ghosh, the Madhyamgram TMC MLA, formerly served as a municipal office holder.
According to the ED, between 2014 and 2018, about 1,500 persons were allegedly illegally recruited by various civic organizations in the state for financial gain.
