Government Land Encroachment in Gajoldoba: Jalpaiguri Administration Prepares for Action

The Jalpaiguri district administration is preparing to recapture approximately 27,000 square feet, or 63 decimal land, that has been encroached upon in Gajoldoba.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's order to remove encroachments from government land and restore its original nature is followed by the development.

Rajganj block's Gajoldoba is particularly well-known for Bhorer Alo, a massive tourist destination that is regarded as Mamata's ideal undertaking.

Subham Kundal, the executive officer of the Gajoldoba Development Authority (GDA) and the subdivisional officer (SDO) of Malbazar, filed a complaint in the court of Jalpaiguri SDO Tomojeet Chakraborty on Thursday, accusing the other party of invading the land.

"GDA was given the site so that it could build its office and related infrastructure. But others have erected homes and stores on the entire plot of land, encroaching onto it," an administration source stated.

After considering Kundal's allegation, Chakraborty heard the matter on Friday and gave the order for a combined team made up of representatives from the GDA, the land and land reforms department, the police, and the Rajganj block administration to visit the location on Saturday.

"On Monday, they will visit the location and provide me with a status report. The proper actions would be taken if the claim turned out to be true, according to Chakraborty.

Notices would be served to the encroachers immediately, according to sources.

"The administration will take action to have them leave the land if they are unable to demonstrate their ownership of it. The state administration has issued explicit instructions in this regard, the source continued.

Khageswar Roy, the vice-chairman of the GDA and a TMC MLA from Rajganj, talked with block officials on Friday as the news circulated.

"Any infringement on government land will not be tolerated. We cannot allow certain persons to occupy this land illegally as it was given to us in order to build the GDA office," the MLA stated.
