India Advises Against Travel to Israel and Iran Amid Rising Tensions

Due to the growing tensions between Iran and Israel, India released an advise on Friday asking all Indian citizens to stay away from visiting these two nations.

The warning was sent on the same day that the US limited travel for its embassy staff in Israel due to concerns about an impending Iranian attack. A number of other governments have also issued travel recommendations to both countries.

Given that Iran has threatened to exact revenge for the bombing of its embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1, attacks against Israel are generally anticipated. Iran asserts that the attack claimed the lives of seven of its military advisors.

"In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice," the alert from India stated.

"We are asking everyone who is currently living in Iran or Israel to register with the Indian Embassies in those countries. Additionally, they are asked to take the greatest safety precautions and limit their activity."

Regarding whether the construction workers being deployed to Israel as part of a government-to-government deal would still go, there was no official comment from either side. It was anticipated that 1,500 laborers will visit Israel this month.

About 18,000 Indians, excluding diamond dealers, IT workers, and students, are employed by Israeli elderly as caregivers, according to the Indian embassy in Tel Aviv.

Even though India had planned an evacuation drill following Hamas' terror attack on Israel on October 7, the majority of them had decided to stay. There are only 4,000 or so Indians living in Iran.

India sent the following statement shortly after the attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus: "We have noted with concern the attack on Iranian diplomatic premises on Syria on April 1, 2024." The rising tensions in West Asia and their potential to incite more bloodshed and instability are concerning to India.
