Following India's "superlative performance" in defeating New Zealand to get to the World Cup final on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his admiration.

"India does really well and makes a spectacular entrance into the Finals. With outstanding bowling and batting, our side won the match. With congratulations to the squad, Modi said on X, "Best wishes for the Finals."

He also praised Mohammed Shami's bowling effort, stating that cricket fans would remember it for a very long time.

"Superb individual performances have also added to the unique nature of today's Semi Final. Cricket fans will remember @MdShami11's bowling in this match and throughout the World Cup for many years to come. "Well done, Shami!" said the PM.

Amit Shah, the home minister, was also thrilled with India's victory, saying it had come into the championship "like a boss".

"Come in victorious, like a boss. What a thrilling demonstration of cricketing skill. Best of luck for the match. "Let us fetch the cup," murmured Shah.

In their last-four match here on Wednesday, India defeated New Zealand by 70 runs because to the bowling mastery of Mohammed Shami, the world-record 50th ODI century from Virat Kohli, and a brilliant century from Shreyas Iyer.
