Inside Tihar Jail: Arvind Kejriwal's Detention and Daily Routine

Sources stated on Wednesday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is being held in Tihar jail in connection with a money laundering case, requested a copy of the prison handbook and received one.

An officer from the Tihar Prison confirmed this, stating that any book in the prison library may be read by an inmate.

Since April 1, Kejriwal has been detained at Tihar's cell number 2 after a judge ordered him to stay in judicial custody for a period of 14 days.

The Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and "How Prime Ministers Decide" were the three texts that Kejriwal requested from the prison administration after being imprisoned.

The chief minister's appeal against his detention by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case related to the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy was denied by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday. The court said that no legislative requirements had been broken.

The sources claim that mosquito nets have been placed in Kejriwal's and other AAP leaders' cells in Tihar prison.

According to regulations, an official said that prisoners may have mosquito netting in their cells.

Tihar prison numbers 1 and 7 house AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, respectively. Jain was detained by the ED in a separate money laundering investigation, while Sisodia was detained in relation to the excise policy issue.

on his cell, Kejriwal is often seen writing and reading books while seated on a chair. According to the reports, he also reads the jail handbook in his cell.

Although the chief minister has a TV with 20 channels in his cell, he does not like it. According to an official source, he reads a lot and does yoga and meditation most of the time.

Kejriwal's cell has two CCTV cameras installed so that prison staff may monitor him around-the-clock. He can stretch and move about in a little area known as the lobby outside his cell, according to accounts.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has accused Kejriwal of "entire conspiracy of Delhi liquor scam, in drafting and implementation of the policy, for favouring and benefiting the quid pro receiving kickbacks and eventually using part of proceeds of crime generated out of the scheduled offence in the election campaign for Goa Assembly elections" .
