Lovlina Borgohain Wins Silver, India Ends Asian Games Boxing Campaign With Five Medals

Lovlina Borgohain, who won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, settled for silver as the Indian boxers finished strong with five medals on Wednesday at the Asian Games.

In the women's 57kg semi-final, Parveen Hooda was unable to overcome her height disadvantage against Taiwan's Lin Yu Ting, a two-time world champion, and finished with a bronze medal.

In the lopsided final, Lovlina's defensive play cost her the gold since she was outpunched.

The two-time Olympic medalist and hometown favorite Li Qian destroyed the current world champion in the 75 kg final.

With the defeat at Lovlina, India's campaign was over. Boxers from the nation finished the competition with five medals, including one silver and four bronze. India has received a gold and a bronze in the previous competition.

"I tried my hardest, but I was unable to bring the gold. I'm pleased with how I did. After the match, Lovlina stated, "I'll attempt to change the color of the medal in the Olympics.

I made certain errors, such as playing closer to the opposition and losing a point. I'll correct the errors I made, she continued.

While competing for gold, Borgohain and Qian appeared tentative and were assessing one another.
