Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee Accuse Investigation Agencies of Misconduct

The central investigation agencies were accused of misconduct by Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee on Monday. The chief minister further said that the nephew had been threatened with arrest before to the general election of next year.

The Bengal Chief Minister and the party's national general secretary attacked the federal agencies for their alleged misbehavior under the saffron rule in their speeches at the foundation day event of the Trinamul Congress's student branch this afternoon on Mayo Road.

Mamata remarked in her speech, "I have seen several regimes (at the Center), but none this vicious.

"Will arrest Abhishek before the election," someone texted me the day before the election. Why? she enquired.

The nephew and aunt have both previously publicly blasted the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for allegedly trying to target him and his family without cause and subjecting them to severe harassment in an effort to undermine the Trinamul regime.

The ED had conducted search operations at different Leaps and Bounds Private Limited premises in New Alipore, Joka, and Thakurpukur in Calcutta on August 21 and 22. A day after Abhishek's arrival from his lengthy trip to the US, the searches started. The ED said that during the searches, "digital evidence" had been found on computers, laptops, and hard drives.

You have seen what they have done, right? They entered his office without anybody knowing, stole whatever was on his computers, and did whatever they wanted. After that, they placed certain files that they had created and brought with them into the computers, according to a complaint made by Chandan Banerjee, an accounts assistant with Leaps and Bounds Private Limited.

We are not amateurs, Arrey bhai, if you are an expert in computers. We extracted specific data from what you entered that wasn't already in their systems. Detailed, with times noted... A police report was filed. The individual who filed the complaint is being threatened with arrest, the chief minister said.

In his statement to the Calcutta Police, the accounts assistant said that during the search at the New Alipore residence, ED investigators had taken 16 files from one of the firm computers. According to his FIR, the ED agents downloaded the files, which have no link to the firm, and the police seized the computer to conduct an investigation.

Following an official press statement from the ED that claimed Leaps and Bounds Private Limited was "used for making dubious transactions running into crores of rupees" and identified Abhishek as the company's CEO, Chandan Banerjee filed a complaint.

The directors of Leaps and Bounds Private Limited include Abhishek's parents' names. Sujay Krishna Bhadra, alias Kalighater Kaku, who was detained in relation to suspected irregularities in the appointments at state-aided schools, is said to have connections to the corporation. In prior media interviews, Bhadra, who the ED had detained in May, said Abhishek was his superior.

Speaking at the ceremony in front of his aunt, Abhishek slammed the rumor that he would not return from the US, which was purportedly generated by central agencies and extensively spread by the saffron ecosystem while he was away.

"My last name is neither Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, or Vijay Mallya (fugitive economic criminals). It's from Banerjee. Without caving in to Delhi, we know how to battle on with our heads held high. Some media outlets often spread false information and falsehoods, according to the Diamond Harbour MP.

"Now, if the CBI visits the same place after another seven days and 'discovers' those (16) files, another smear campaign will begin," claimed Abhishek, who had previously testified before the ED and the CBI in Calcutta and Delhi.

Rujira Narula, his wife, has also undergone several ED interrogations. The CBI and the ED haven't made any public statements about the information they learned throughout the several rounds of questioning.

Abhishek had already confronted Amit Shah, the Union home minister, on the alleged harassment of him and others close to him despite, in his opinion, the complete absence of any proof of wrongdoing.
