Mamata Banerjee Criticizes Election Commission and Modi, Asserts Confidence in BJP's Defeat
Mamata Banerjee addresses the election rally at Chinsurah on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee criticized the Election Commission of India once more, focusing particularly on the panel's alleged flagrant disregard for the model code of behavior in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks.

"Modibabu, you have been contemptuously breaking the model code on a regular basis. At an electoral rally at Chinsurah, in the Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency, the chief minister of Bengal stated, "Even the Election Commission has been acting like a puppet in Modi's hands."

Due to his invocation of religion and hate speech during the current election campaign, Modi was barred from running for office for six years, according to two PILs that the Supreme Court rejected on Tuesday.

Judges Vikram Nath and S.C. Sharma's bench questioned the petitioners' attorneys why their clients hadn't come to the commission with their complaints rather than the court directly. The argument that the commission's failure to perform its duties compelled them to petition the Supreme Court was rejected by the bench.

The leader of the Trinamool Congress questioned on Wednesday, "First of all, why should elections be extended over nearly three months, obstructing development, simply to aid and support Modibabu?"

"Until now, I had never witnessed an election with such a long duration. She said, "Arun Goel, one election commissioner, even resigned in protest over issues pertaining to Bengal."

The head of the Trinamool Congress expressed her continued belief that India will form the next Union government and that the BJP-led NDA will lose the general election.

She declared, "They just don't have the numbers to win."

"Everyone in the nation has realized that the BJP is comprised of the worst liars. The polling process has already finished four times, and the BJP is losing each time. There isn't much chance for the BJP in the final three phases either, she continued.

"The BJP can keep lying, but it won't be enough to win. They had boasted, conceited, that they would secure almost 400 seats. People are even speculating that there won't even be 200.
