Mamata Banerjee Slams BJP's Alleged Misuse of Government Agencies Ahead of General Election

In the weeks leading up to the pivotal general election, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister, unleashed a tirade against the BJP for allegedly having ties to the CBI and the NIA, accusing them of forcing Trinamul officials and workers to choose between siding with the saffron party or suffer the repercussions.

The BJP's bhai-bhai (brothers) are the NIA and CBI. The BJP's financing source is the Department of Income Taxation (ED). Trinamul and other opposition leaders are being threatened with arrests or forced to join the BJP. Have you ever seen something like this happen in our nation? At a Sunday afternoon election campaign event in Hura, Purulia, Mamata addressed a gathering of over 30,000 people.

Mamata defended the villagers' protests against the federal agency's searches while once again accusing the NIA team of attacking them on Saturday in Bhupatinagar, East Midnapore.

"They (the BJP) have been sending NIA officials in police uniform late at night, when women are asleep in their houses, without informing local law enforcement beforehand." Before, in locations like Nandigram and Singur, a large number of thugs dressed in police uniforms tortured victims. How will our sisters and moms vary from one another? 17 miles from Purulia town, at Hura, Mamata requested the throng.

She said, "There (in Bhupatinagar), they (the NIA) filed a complaint against the mothers and sisters who objected to (the NIA's raid to arrest Trinamul workers).

She attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what she called the "agency raj" and said that the "Modi ki guarantee" ensured that government agencies would be used against the opposition by "misusing" them.

"The prime minister is touring the nation touting his pledge, even as jobless rates rise across. In actuality, his assurance consists of demonetization, mishandling of federal agencies such as the CBI, NIA, and ED, and withholding of impoverished people's funds. The chief minister appealed to the people of Purulia to support her political party, in which BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a margin exceeding two lakh votes.

At a time when her party colleagues Chandrima Bhattacharya and Kunal Ghosh visited Bhupatinagar and informed the locals that the party would provide all feasible legal help to those detained by the NIA, Mamata's acquisition of the central agency was considered crucial.

Mamata said that she had knowledge of NIA agents visiting Purulia hotels before to her campaign event in order to identify the boarders in an attempt to identify her party leaders.

Is the NIA responsible for this? Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP instructed the central authorities to detain all booth agents and Trinamul candidates. Mamata said, "We would not tolerate such practice," before requesting that three party workers be available in each polling place in the event that one or two agents were detained by federal officials.

Mamata also called for impartiality from the Indian Election Commission.

As the BJP salutes the Election Commission each and every day, I salute them in advance today. We need you to operate with objectivity. People everywhere will not forgive you if you destroy the greatest democracy on earth, Mamata said. "We are keeping our mouths shut because we love our country." She said, "If we speak, you (the EC) will be exposed," and concluded her thirty-minute statement.
