On Wednesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee emphasized the importance of harmony, stating that a wedding in her family this week would fortify the relationship between the plains and the hills.

"My nephew, who is from my family, is getting married to a woman from the hills." They are friends and both doctors. Mamata told reporters at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Calcutta, "The nuptial ties will strengthen the bond between the people of the plains and the hills," before leaving for Bagdogra.

"I adore both the plains and the hills." I adore all communities, tribal people, Dalits, and Scheduled Castes. People in our state are the same," Mamata remarked.

The chief minister left for Kurseong after landing at the Bagdogra airport later in the afternoon. She is scheduled to attend a public service distribution program in Kurseong on Friday, which will be attended by individuals from the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

Mamata is scheduled to visit the districts of Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri for comparable events during her seven-day trip to north Bengal. She is scheduled to return to Calcutta on December 12 after attending another distribution program at the Kanchenjungha Stadium in Siliguri.

Numerous items will be distributed during these events. During my trip, I will visit four districts: Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, and Darjeeling," she stated.

Political observers said that the chief minister's visit to the area is noteworthy, particularly in light of the impending Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2019 Parliamentary elections, the BJP won all three of these four districts' Lok Sabha seats. In the north Bengal region, the saffron party had secured seven out of eight seats.
