Mohammed Ashiq Triumphs as India's New MasterChef: Culinary Journey and Grand Finale Victory

At the conclusion of the cooking reality show's grand finale, which aired on SonyLIV on Thursday, Mohammed Ashiq, a 28-year-old Mangalore resident who owns a juice stand, was named India's new MasterChef.

Ashiq won a golden chef coat and Rs 25 lakh in prize money as the MasterChef India 2023 champion.

"I am incredibly appreciative of my experience on MasterChef India. People know who I am now. I had no idea that I would make it this far and be among the finalists. I wanted to show that I could achieve my culinary goals," an overcome Ashiq remarked upon taking home the trophy.

Nambie from Meghalaya Rukhsaar Sayeed from Kashmir concluded her MasterChef India 2023 journey as the second runner-up, while Jessica Marak emerged as the first runner-up. The fourth place finisher was Suraj Thapa, a BSc graduate from the small North Bengali town of Chalsa.

The top four contestants' last task was to come up with a signature dish that would both represent their identities and reflect their journey through the competition. Ashiq, who is from a seaside city, made a seafood dish that included mousse made from crab cakes, pureed prawns with vegetables, and kokum to clear the palate.

Following the final, celebrity chefs Pooja Dhingra, Ranveer Brar, and Vikas Khanna—judges of Masterchef India 2023—congratulated Ashiq on his accomplishment. Ashiq's "relentless pursuit for more" was commended by Ranveer, but Pooja and Vikas declared that the new MasterChef had won both their hearts and the trophy.
