Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Begins Filming Season 2 in South Africa
Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Taz Skylar and Jacob Gibson are set to reprise their roles in the second season of the live-action series.

The developers of Netflix's live-action One Piece series said on Monday that filming for Season 2 has begun in Cape Town, South Africa. They also shared a video featuring the web series' actors.

It's taking place, Nakama! Our Straw Hats have come back together from all around the world to start filming their amazing Season 2 journey! On the series' official Instagram page, they posted a video and stated, "There's no better place to start this trip than the Going Merry deck with @inakigo @mackenyu @emilysteaparty @bookofjacob and @taz_skylar.

Iñaki Godoy is seen leaving for South Africa at the airport in the opening scene of the video. The actor, who plays the show's ambitious pirate king Luffy, shocked viewers by enquiring about how to travel to South Africa on Siri. The actors Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Gibson, and Taz Skylar are shown coming on set one by one in the scenes that follow.

Not long after the makers' announcement, Iűaki shared a selfie from the One Piece set sporting the famous straw hat of his character Luffy on Instagram Stories.

The actor who plays Zoro, Mackenyu, posted a photo of the main cast's shadow profiles. Fans made jokes about his co-star Taz, who plays Sanji, not showing up in the picture to the full extent, which alluded to the manga author Eiichiro Oda's sad relationship between Zoro and Sanji.

The cast of the second season of the live-action One Piece on Netflix was just unveiled. Calum Kerr, Julia Rehwald, Rob Collett, Ty Keoghi, David Dastmalchian, Daniel Lasker, Camrus Johnson, and Jazzara Jaslyn have all joined Netflix.

The arrival of the Straw Hat pirates in Rogue Town will set up the opening scene of One Piece Season 2, when they will face off against the Baroque Works agents. Additionally, it will introduce Nico Robin, Crocodile's sidekick in the Arabasta Arc.

The One Piece plot, which is set in a pirate's world, centers on Monkey D. Luffy, a young child who embarks on a treacherous quest to locate the fabled prize One Piece with his eccentric crew.

The manga story is now being adapted into an anime series with approximately 1,000 episodes, having started in 1997.

Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by Press Time staff and has been published from a syndicated feed.
