On Thursday, two people were taken into custody by Alipurduar district forest department officers for poaching a deer.

According to sources, a group of forest guards arrived at the Shil Bungalow forest in the Volka forest range, which is part of the east division of the Buxa Tiger Reserve, yesterday afternoon while on a normal patrol.

There, they discovered a female barking deer's carcass and took some bows and arrows from the location.

Believing it to be a case of poaching, they opened an investigation and began looking for the people who had been involved.

They eventually learned more about the poachers and last night stormed Purba Salbari village.

Two villagers, Budhan Kujur and Mandal Beka, were taken into custody. They also lost some bows and arrows that they were in possession of.

"The veterinary unit has received the deer's carcass for post-mortem examination. A forester stated, "Samples would be sent to the Zoological Survey of India for appropriate identification.

The pair appeared in this Chief Judicial Magistrate's court on Friday.

They took part in the poaching of a deer. The public prosecutor, Madan Gopal Sarkar, stated, "The court heard the case and has sent them in judicial custody for 14 days."
