Prithviraj Sukumaran Opens Up About His Role in "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" and Working with Akshay Kumar

Prithviraj Sukumaran, an actor, claims he doesn't mind stepping aside for a movie to let other stars shine. One example of this is in his next blockbuster Hindi film "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," in which he portrays the antagonist.

In the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed action film, the Malayalam actor—who has acted in Hindi films like "Aiyyaa," "Aurangzeb," and "Naam Shabana"—stars with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.

"I think that instead of putting yourself first, put the movie first and make sure that the casting supports the plot. I've taken a backseat in terms of screen time in a number of Malayalam films if you look at my career," Sukumaran told PTI.

The 41-year-old actor used his 2021 film "Kuruthi" as an example, when he portrayed the antagonist despite being given the major lead role by director Manu Warrier.

"I was first approached to play the main role in 'Kuruthi,' portrayed by Roshan Mathew. "I had to exert a great deal of convincing power to persuade director Manu Warrier that I ought to play the antagonist and someone else the hero," said the actor, who is well-known for his roles in the southern films Salaar, Lucifer, Kaaviya Thalaivan, and Ravananan.

"Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" stars Tiger and Akshay as two elite troops on a quest to retrieve a stolen AI weapon, along with death-defying stunts.

Sukumaran continued, "Even though Kumar and Shroff play the main roles, the film would be incomplete without his character Kabir."

"Tiger, a highly regarded young Hindi star, and Akshay Sir, one of the greatest stars in the nation, appear in the film "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan." I promise that the movie wouldn't be the same without Kabir." Sukumaran gave Kumar acclaim for living a disciplined life and managing to reconcile his personal and work lives.

"They are action-oriented, professional, and well-focused. It has been an eye-opening experience to work with Akshay Sir. His dedication to work is such that he arrives on set at 7:00 am and never shows signs of fatigue. He lives a strict, disciplined lifestyle and is always bursting with energy," he said.

"He has a very enjoyable side. He would take us out to supper while we were filming in Glasgow, Scotland. He is a tremendous father, and I got to experience the beautiful bond he has with his kid (Aarav)," he remembered.

"Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," which is produced by Pooja Entertainment in collaboration with AAZ, will premiere on April 10 in honor of Eid. Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F. are also included.
