Allison Janney Joins Cast of "A Simple Favor 2" Alongside Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick

The cast of the 2018 dark comedy "A Simple Favor 2" now includes Hollywood star Allison Janney.

The sequel, which will premiere on the streaming site Prime Video, is anticipated to begin filming this spring and include actors Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick, and Paul Feig again.

Variety, an entertainment news site, reports that Elena Sofia Ricci, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega, and Lorenzo de Moor have also joined the cast of the follow-up.

In the first film, Kendrick portrayed Stephanie Smothers, a small-town YouTuber who investigates the disappearance of her enigmatic and sophisticated friend Emily Nelson, played by Blake Lively. The film was based on Darcey Bell's 2017 book of the same name.

Stephanie and Emily go to the beautiful Italian island of Capri in "A Simple Favor 2" to attend Emily's lavish wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman.

"Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square," the official plot summary said.

In the follow-up, actors Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Kelly McCormack, Ian Ho, Joshua Satine, and Bashir Salahuddin will all be making cameo appearances.

The sequel is written by Jessica Sharzer, who wrote the first film again; Feig and Laeta Kalogridis also contributed to the writing.

"A Simple Favor 2" will be produced by Feig and Laura Fischer for Feigco Entertainment, with Sharzer acting as executive producer.

Lionsgate and Amazon MGM Studios are co-producing the film.

Janney, who received an Oscar for her work in "I, Tonya," is now a cast member in the Apple TV+ series "Palm Royale." Her next appearance will be in "The Diplomat" season two on Netflix.
