Priyamani Highlights Evolving Roles for Married Actresses in Indian Cinema

Actor Priyamani argues that the Indian film industry has changed for the better, with female actors no longer being restricted to supporting roles after marriage.

The National Award-winning performer commended Nayanthara, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Kajal Aggarwal, her contemporaries, for their wise professional choices.

"Women are now assuming roles that are specifically designed for them after marriage. Ultimately, it comes down to a decision. If you want to continue working after marriage or if you want to take a vacation and devote more time to your family.

"Actresses are getting married or returning to the spotlight after being married, and now they are landing roles supported by authors." The industry no longer cares if a person is married or not. Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal, and Nayanthara are all doing quite well. In an interview with PTI, Priyamani stated, "Kajal has a child (too)."

The performer bemoaned that, in the past, female actors were limited to roles such as "mother," "sister," or "sister-in-law" following marriage.

Married actresses used to be limited to performing (supporting roles), at least in the south. "Fans won't be there once the actress gets married," stated industry insiders. It's likely that your body will alter shape. "They were limited to assigning roles of mother, sister, or sister-in-law to actors who were their previous co-stars," Priyamani continued.

The actor is presently anticipating the release of "Maidaan," her next Hindi film in which she co-stars with Ajay Devgn.

The film, directed by Amit Sharma of "Badhaai Ho" fame, follows the team's coach Syed Abdul Rahim (Devgn) as he recalls the early 1950s and 1960s, when Indian football was at its peak.

Priyamani, who portrayed her character Saira as Rahim's confidante and emotional support system, is aware of the restricted screen time assigned to her.

"They have a friendship-like bond that is truly infectious between them. The dynamics of the family play a significant role in the narrative. "Everyone (the family members) has a noteworthy role in the movie," Priyamani stated, adding that she spent fifteen days filming the project.

"Maidaan," which is produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla, is scheduled to open in theaters on April 11 in honor of Eid.

Beginning production on the third season of the critically praised OTT series "The Family Man" has Priyamani just as excited. Manoj Bajpayee plays the lead role, and Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK are the directors.

It's not an easy task to portray Suchi once more, in my opinion. I do take extreme caution. I'm not sure what to expect from season three. We're also holding off on getting started. We're going to be contacted shortly for the reading," she stated.

Priyamani stated that she is interested in working alongside her second cousin, Vidya Balan.

"I would adore working with her. I'm even manifesting it, in fact. Hopefully, our sisters will be able to collaborate. The actor remarked, "I recently saw her at a party in November. It was a short moment; she arrived and went in ten minutes.

The actor revealed that she has been quite selective in her choice of roles moving forward.

"I'm really picky about the things I do. I'm hoping to accomplish something worthwhile here (in Hindi film). There are many offers with strong female leads, but I'm only selecting the movie gradually. Priyamani stated, "I don't want to just keep doing everything and anything that is being offered to me."
