Sanju Samson, an Indian batsman and wicketkeeper, stated that although he was concentrating on leading his club in the Indian Premier League, he was also thinking about the upcoming T20 World Cup selections. He believes he is "most prepared" for the international showcase.

After a stellar IPL season in which he amassed 531 runs, including five half-centuries, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals finally received his just desserts when he was named in the 15-man Indian squad for the T20 World Cup in the United States and the Caribbean.

Ireland and India will play their first-ever match on Wednesday.

Samson stated, "Actually, this is the most prepared or experienced Sanju Samson has come into this World Cup," in a video that the BCCI shared on social media on Monday.

Ten years of numerous setbacks interspersed with sporadic triumphs. I've learned everything I needed to know about life in cricket before this important competition."

Despite his impressive IPL batting streak, Samson is a much-underappreciated wicketkeeper-batter who has only participated in 16 ODIs and 25 T20Is.

"I believe my entire mind was occupied by the IPL. Being the captain of the (Royals) side meant that there was a lot on your plate and a lot to consider. I believe my mind was constantly busy, but the World Cup selections were also present in the background."

The 29-year-old continued by saying it was like receiving a dream come true to be called up to play for the nation in the World Cup.

"Actually, that was a really big deal. It seemed like the nicest thing that could have occurred to my career, and those feelings are still present now."

The cricketer from Kerala admitted that, even though his team had an incredible season and topped the IPL table for the majority of the league stage, he was aware that getting into the Indian team was not a given.

"I was aware that I had a respectable IPL season and that I had a chance to qualify. However, I was also aware of how difficult it is, since it relies on the squad's preferences and the precise combination that our team management or the selectors are seeking," Samson remarked.

"I believe life and cricket returned it to me the instant I was certain that Sanju was ready. So that's my preferred perspective on it. So, it was a wonderful occasion."

Samson claimed that his career's ups and downs have taught him to always see the bright side of things. "I always see the bright side of things, even when they are failures or setbacks. You really miss a few lessons when you're young and successful in everything.

"I believe I've been extremely fortunate to have amazing batting talent; it comes naturally to me; I don't know how it really happens, though. It truly just appears."

The cricket player claimed he was living in the present and had forgotten everything about the IPL as soon as he arrived in New York.
