Tragic Bus Accident Claims Lives in Odisha's Jajpur District

ODISHA, JAJPUR - In the sad event that occurred on Monday night, a bus headed for Kolkata collapsed off the Barabati bridge on National Highway-16 in the Jajpur district of Odisha, killing at least five people—a lady among them. About forty other passengers were hurt in the crash as well, according to the local police.

Around nine o'clock at night, the event happened on a bus that was traveling from Puri to Kolkata with fifty people on board. In the disaster, four males and one lady have perished. Approximately thirty of the approximately forty wounded individuals are being transported to Cuttack SCB Medical College, according to Tapan Kumar Naik, Inspector-in-Charge of the Dharamshala Police Station.

At the scene of the accident, rescue activities were launched right away, with the goal of immediately tending to the wounded and getting them to the closest hospitals.

Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, sent his sincere sympathies for the unfortunate event. In an attempt to bring some financial comfort to the grieving families, he declared an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh apiece for the deceased's family.
