Viacom18 Wins BCCI Media Rights for Home Matches in Landmark Deal

Viacom18 Awarded Rs. 5963 Crore for BCCI Media Rights for Home Matches

Viacom18 emerged as the winner in a high-stakes online sell-off that was attended by one BCCI, securing the news rights for the BCCI's domestic tournaments, including both TV set and mathematical floors. This massive agreement, valued at a staggering Rs 5963 crore, spans five years and will begin in conjunction with the next three-match ODI series against Australia and expire in March 2028.

Over the course of this season, Viacom18 will broadcast a total of 88 matches, costing around Rs 67.8 crore each match. This number indicates a 12.7% rise over the evaluation from the previous phase. While the mathematical rights are expensive at Rs 35.3 crore, the TV component of the rights is supposedly estimated to cost about Rs 32.5 crore each game.

In this competitive bid battle, Viacom18, backed by Reliance, outbid Sony Sports Network while Disney Star decided not to participate. Each of the three broadcasters submitted a technical assessment offer.

Package A, which includes the TV rights for the Indian subcontinent, costs Viacom18 Rs 2862 crore. Package B, which includes the mathematical rights for the Indian subcontinent as well as global TV and mathematical rights, was insured by Viacom18 for Rs 3101 crore.

Disney Star promptly cedes the BCCI radio rights to Viacom18, which then acquires equity mathematical rights for the IPL and two combined mathematical and TV rights for the Women's Premier League.

The package includes a total of 25 Test matches, 27 ODI matches, and 36 T20 matches, pushing well-known independent nations with their own governments like Australia, England, South Africa, and New Zealand to a certain extent.

Disney Star, formerly known as Star India, has secured general rights protection for the Rs 6138 crore, 102 parallel 2018–23 home order.

While the deal's valuation is lower than the IPL standard (Rs 48,490 billion for five years, or about Rs 118 billion each game), it still shows a reduction in interest in mutual succession as per manufacturing masters.

Disney Star's failure in the e-sell-off might be attributed to concerns about the alluring India trade, which were raised by news that Disney was looking towards a possible sale of its India business and courting a participant. But the expert hasn't received any formal confirmation from the visitor.

In a different context, Sony Pictures Networks India expressed their duty to the cause by praising the BCCI for its clear and efficient e-services procedure. Sony Pictures Networks India's MD and CEO, N.P. Singh, underlined the company's commitment to provide top-notch enjoyable entertainment for a variety of sports.

Through this e-sell-off, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed his grateful joy and satisfaction in attesting to the exceptional growth of the BCCI brand. He wished Viacom18 well in gaining the rights and urged transparency and fairness to be upheld throughout the whole process.
