Wealthy Candidates Dominate Telangana Assembly Election Race

The wealthiest candidate running in the assembly elections on November 30 is G Vivekananda of the Chennur Congress, with stated assets of over Rs 600 crore; he is followed in wealth by P Srinivas Reddy of the same party, with over Rs 460 crore.

The combined worth of Vivek and his spouse's moveable assets is Rs 377 crore. The majority of these assets are shares in a number of businesses, including his 1981-founded Visaka Industries.

The value of the family's real estate was more than Rs 225 crore.

In their statement, he said that Vivek and his spouse owe Rs 41.5 crore in debts or obligations.

While his wife's income increased to Rs 9.61 crore from Rs 6.09 crore in the same fiscal year, Vivek's income increased to Rs 6.26 crore from Rs 4.66 crore.

Palair assembly candidate P Srinivas Reddy disclosed assets and liabilities of Rs 460 crore, including both movable and immovable property, along with Rs 44 crore in debt.

Srinivas Reddy's offices and homes in Khammam and here were searched by the Income Tax Department on November 9, the day nomination papers were to be filed.

The searches were dubbed "politically motivated" by Reddy. According to his declaration, Raj Gopal Reddy, a different Congress candidate, earned an incredible Rs 71.17 crore in 2022–2023 compared to Rs 36.6 lakh in FY19.

The whole wealth of his family was Rs 459 crore.

The Munugode-based Congress candidate owns 1.24 crore shares in Sushee Infra and Mining Ltd, a business with a book value of Rs 239 crore.

According to the statement, Reddy's family has liabilities of Rs 4.14 crore and immovable assets valued at Rs 157 crore.

Pailla Shekar Reddy, a BRS candidate, said that his family has assets valued at over Rs 227 crore and liabilities exceeding Rs 83 crore.

The "Hindu Undivided Family" and other family assets totaling around Rs 59 crore, as well as liabilities of Rs 25 crore, were disclosed by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

He does not possess an automobile, according the election affidavit.

For Telangana's 119 assembly seats, as many as 4,798 candidates from different parties submitted 5,716 sets of nominations.

As per the election calendar, nominations will be examined on November 13 and the deadline for withdrawing a candidacy is November 15.

Voter registration opens on November 30 and vote tallying begins on December 3.
