One of the most well-known running races in India, the Mumbai Marathon, had a terrible occurrence on Sunday that resulted in the deaths of two runners and the hospitalization of 22 others for different health problems. A 74-year-old guy who had just finished the half marathon was among the dead. After being taken to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. A 42-year-old guy who went into cardiac arrest during the race and was unable to be resuscitate was the other casualty.

The marathon's organizers sent their sympathies to the families of the departed and said that they had done all required safety and health steps to guarantee the participants' safety. Additionally, they said that over a hundred medical workers, twelve ambulances, and four medical stations had been sent along the route.However, a few competitors voiced their displeasure with the conditions, saying that it was too hot and humid for a lengthy race and that there wasn't always enough water and electrolyte available.

Now in its 18th year, the Mumbai Marathon drew in over 40,000 runners from both domestic and foreign competitions. Six categories were offered during the event: a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K run, a senior citizens' run, a dream run, and a champions with disabilities run. In the men's and women's divisions, respectively, Srinu Bugatha of India and Amane Beriso of Ethiopia were the full marathon champions.
