West Bengal Governor Seeks Report on Assault on ED Agents During Raid on TMC Leader's Home

According to an official, West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has requested a report from the state government about the measures taken in response to an assault by a crowd on ED agents who raided the home of TMC leader Sahajahan Sheikh in connection with the multi-crore ration distribution scandal.

Bose demanded a report from the state government outlining Sheikh's legal status in India as well as the reason he hasn't been taken into custody.

Additionally, the source said that the governor has pushed the West Bengal administration to "hold accountable those responsible for the failure of the law and order machinery, and to take action against police officers who neglected their duties."

Bose claimed he was very upset over the police's "failure" to capture Sheikh at a meeting he had with senior CRPF and ED officials on Sunday.

In response to the incident that occurred on January 5 in Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district, when a mob wounded three of the department's policemen and destroyed numerous cars, the ED has issued a lookout notice for Sheikh.
