Yuvraj Singh believes that Rohit Sharma is the ideal candidate to captain Team India in the forthcoming T20 World Cup now that he is back in the Indian T20 fold and captaining the team in the recent Afghanistan T20Is.

"It's very hard to recover from a lost wicket in T20 cricket, so you need a very good captain." To decide who bowls when, the captain needs to have a great deal of expertise.

“Rohit has won five IPL titles (for Mumbai Indians) while India also reached the (ODI) World Cup final in his captaincy. The former all-rounder told The Telegraph, "I don't know what the selectors have in mind, but you need to have some guys with experience," on the sidelines of the high-performance center for Merlin Group and the Yuvraj Singh Centres of Excellence (YSCA) opening in New Town on Saturday.

"You need to have two options when it comes to captaincy: two from the current squad and two from the future. If Rohit and Hardik (Pandya) are available now, I envision Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) and Shubman (Gill) for T20Is and 50-over matches in the future.

"You also need to make sure that your new captain can serve for at least eight years beyond this T20 World Cup. Accidents can occur on the ground at any time. So, I think having two options is usually a good idea. Yuvraj clarified. Yuvraj played for India in 40 Test matches, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is.

Rinku's ascent

Praiseing Rinku Singh's ability to perform well under duress, Yuvraj described the young middle-order batsman as "probably the best left-hander in the India squad right now." Rinku also reminds him of parts of himself.

"In the next four to five years at the very least, we should keep an eye on him in the T20 and 50-over World Cups." He is highly astute in knowing when to attack and when to switch up the strike.

"Given his ability to win us games under duress, I sincerely hope he is given a longer rope. Yuvraj emphasized, "Although I don't want to put anyone under pressure, I do think Rinku has the ability to accomplish what I used to and contribute at No. 5 or 6.

Gill's Examination form

Shubman Gill has been mentored by Yuvraj, who isn't very pleased with his performance in Test cricket right now. "Shubman needs to put in more effort and perform better in Test cricket... You have to do well in Test cricket if you want to be the world's best player.
