AICC general secretary K C Venugopal has filed a defamation suit against Sobha Surendran, the BJP candidate running against him for the Lok Sabha constituency of Alappuzha, for allegedly accusing him of accumulating fortune through a cooperation with the mining mafia.
During a recent TV interview, Surendran made these accusations against the Congress leader.
The Rajasthani Rajya Sabha MP personally filed the complaint at the Alappuzha South Police station, Venugopal's office confirmed to PTI.
In response, Surendran praised Venugopal's legal proceedings and said that the accusations were supported by proof that she had.
She restated her charges against the Congress leader in remarks to reporters.
