UEFA Considers National Team Managers' Concerns Over Squad Size for Euro 2024

European football's governing body, the Uefa, announced on Thursday that it would give national team managers' concerns over squad size for Euro 2024 in Germany due consideration.

Coaches have expressed their worries and the Uefa has announced a return to the pre-Covid-19 23-player maximum, which was raised to 26 for Euro 2020 and the World Cup 2022.

A UEFA representative said, "We have taken note of comments expressed by some national team coaches regarding the squad size for Euro 2024."

The matter was discussed by Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman and England coach Gareth Southgate during the most recent international window. "Not being able to choose among 26 players is quite odd. After his team's 1-2 defeat to Germany on Tuesday, Koeman said, "It is absurd to go back to 23." "Injuries are a bigger problem these days. It concerns the players' capacity to handle loads.

In the hopes that Uefa may change its mind, Southgate has said he will appoint an expanded starting team. "We will undoubtedly name a longer squad, as we did prior to the Euros here (2021), even though we only had 26 players at that time," Southgate said.
