The organizers of the 45th edition of France's Festival des 3 Continents announced on Monday that a film retrospective on Indian cinema legend Amitabh Bachchan had been scheduled.

Nantes will host the film gala from November 24 to December 3.

Nine movies from the 1970s and 1980s featuring the renowned actor will be shown in the part titled "Amitabh Bachchan, Big B Forever": "Trishul," "Amar Akbar Anthony," "Satte Pe Satta," "Sholay," "Don," "Kabhi Kabhie," "Deewaar," "Kaala Patthar," and "Abhimaan."

The French Embassy in India is providing assistance for the retrospective, which is being organized in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF).

"One of the oldest and most reputed film festivals," the Festival des 3 Continents, is co-presenting a collection of nine of Bachchan's early works. The actor expressed his satisfaction at this news.

"I got to work with some of the most important directors of the era, such Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Manmohan Desai, Yash Chopra, and Ramesh Sippy, and portray a wide variety of roles in a lot of these films.

"I hope that the audience of the festival will take pleasure in the selection of films that, even after fifty years of release, still provide viewers great delight. The 81-year-old celebrity said in a statement, "I am thrilled that my daughter Shweta will be in Nantes to represent me at the festival, even though I won't be there in person.

The foundation is honored to have its name connected to the "Amitabh Bachchan, Big B Forever" retrospective, according to Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, director of FHF. The Mumbai-based organization also organized a four-day national event called "Bachchan Back To The Beginning" to commemorate Bachchan's 80th birthday last year.

"Last year, we showed a varied range of Indian classics in the festival's Indian Autumn stream, and we were pleased with the audience's warm reception to the movies.

"We would like to thank Jerome Baron, the artistic director of the festival for giving us another opportunity this year to showcase nine Amitabh Bachchan films spanning a period from 1973 to 1982 when Mr Bachchan was at the peak of his career, at the festival this year," Dungarpur said.

The Festival Des 3 Continents' creative director, Jerome Baron, said that the film gala draws its inspiration from a blend of classic and modern cinematic curiosities.

And while he carries on with a career that he started half a century ago, Amitabh Bachchan is unquestionably the iconic living representation of a bridge connecting popular Hindi cinema's past and present. He is an exceptional actor who has never been surpassed on screen, even in the annals of European film," Baron said.

The international debut of "The Real Superstar," a 68-minute experimental documentary about Bachchan directed by Frenchman Cedric Dupire, will also take place during the Festival Des 3 Continents.
