Anupam Hazra Allegedly Attacked By BJP Workers in Birbhum

On Wednesday, a group of BJP employees reportedly demolished a temporary platform that the party's veteran members and sidelined workers had set up for a meeting led by national secretary Anupam Hazra at Khoirasole in Birbhum.

Soon after Hazra criticized the state leadership on social media, there was an assault.

Armed with bamboo clubs, BJP activists stormed the event organizers and looted the temporary stage. Police stopped two BJP groups from fighting.

One of the organizers, Ganesh Ghosh, stated: "As we welcomed our leader Anupam Hazra, BJP officials supported by existing local party presidents trashed our makeshift stage... Colleagues in our party are behaving antagonistically.

"I told you in a Facebook live early in the morning that Dhruba Saha, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Anup Saha, the party's Dubrajpur MLA, are close associates of Amitava Chakravorty, the general secretary of the organization, and they have devised a plot to prevent me from going to the event with marginalized and underprivileged leaders. My fear was eventually realized when, just before I arrived, the platform where I was scheduled to speak to BJP activists in my capacity as the party's national secretary was set on fire. Hazra said, "Those goons wouldn't have spared me if I had been there."

He disparaged Chakravorty and state president Sukanta Majumdar during his Wednesday morning Facebook live.

Despite having a national portfolio, Hazra was unable to get a seat at important party functions, including as those attended by party president J.P. Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah.

At a gathering in Kalna, East Burdwan, on Monday, Hazra launched a vicious assault on the state's present leaders, accusing them of "neglecting" thousands of party veterans.

He was scheduled to meet with BJP veterans in Khoirasole on Wednesday.

The main spokesman for the Bengal BJP, Samik Bhattacharya, publicly questioned Hazra's acceptability among party members on Tuesday.

According to a BJP source, Hazra's "anti-party activities" were reported to the national unit of the party by the state leadership.

"Actually, Hazra's actions are in opposition to the party. He is openly attacking our top officials, such as the state president and the general secretary of the organization. A BJP leader said, "The central leadership has been notified.

The state president of the BJP, Sukanta Majumdar, made a hint on Wednesday that he would soon face consequences from the central leadership.

"Everything is known to the top leadership of the party. When questioned about Hazra on Wednesday, Majumdar said to the press, "You will come to know about the result very soon."

According to Hazra, he carried out his actions as directed by national president J.P. Nadda.

Hazra said, "I also ask Sukanta Majumdar to hold off on making a decision for a few days."

Death of BJP worker

The corpse of BJP worker Subhadeep Mishra, 25, who was hanging from a tree near Gangajalghati in Bankura, was found by Bankura police on Wednesday morning. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari said that Mishra was killed by thugs supported by Trinamul. Mishra's family member reported a lady and four other members of her family to the police for murder. Trinamul refuted the accusation and said the BJP was attempting to politicize the tragedy. Authorities said that an investigation was underway.
