Police Seize Illegal Crackers in Siliguri, One Arrested

In response to a tip, a squad from the Pradhannagar police station and the Siliguri Metropolitan Police's special operation group searched a home in Champasari, ward 46, on Wednesday and confiscated prohibited crackers.

In this regard, someone has been placed under arrest.

The home contained the crackers. It is against the law to have such a large supply of crackers in a residential neighborhood. Every cracker has been confiscated. According to a police source, "someone who is suspected of piling the stock has been detained."

The cost of the crackers that were found and taken into custody have not yet been determined by the police.

The police thought that crackers were being traded illegally. Some individuals want to sell the crackers during the forthcoming Chhat Puja, Kali Puja, and Diwali celebrations.

This is the third cracker seizure in the Siliguri subdivision in the last week. Previously, crackers were taken during two separate raids carried out in Matigara, on the city's northwest edge.

Make an arrest

A young person was detained by police in Balurghat on Tuesday for making vulgar remarks to a housewife and threatening her father-in-law with blank bullets when the latter objected to his behavior.

The accused, Krishna Sarkar, is a resident of Balurghat town's ward 3.

The lady was strolling down a local alley on Sunday when Krishna made crude remarks to her. Krishna yelled profanity at her father-in-law, who was standing nearby, and then pulled out a gun and fired three shots into the air.

At the scene, police discovered three empty cartridges.

On Tuesday, Krishna—who was evading—was apprehended. He was placed into police detention for four days on Wednesday by the court.
