Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe

Sunday's 6-2 victory over Montpellier by leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who had not won in the league in four games, featured Kylian Mbappe's second hat-trick in Ligue 1.

Montpellier, with 26 points, is still one point above the relegation playoff spot, while PSG, with 59 points after 26 games, increased their lead over Brest to 12 points at the top. Lille had earlier held Brest 1-1 at home.

After taking a quick corner, Mbappe found Vitinha with a cross from the left to give the visitors the lead in the fourteenth minute. After dodging past two defenders, the Portugal international curled the ball home with his right foot from the edge of the area.

Eight minutes later, Mbappe, playing his 200th league game for PSG, opened his account with a one-two with Randal Kolo Muani, finishing with his left foot from a challenging angle.

However, Montpellier responded at the halfway point when Arnaud Nordin headed in a close-range header after Jordan Ferri's left-wing cross eventually fell to him inside the area.

The home team pulled even just before the interval, but five minutes into the second half, Mbappe scored again, this time with a right-footed effort outside the box that first struck the post and then found the back of the net.

Lee Kang-in's goal in the 53rd minute gave PSG more of a lead. After 10 minutes, Mbappe finished his hat-trick thanks to a lofted through pass from Vitinha.

Inter held

Sunday's Serie A match saw runaway leaders Inter Milan and guests Napoli draw 1-1 as Juan Jesus' late header negated Matteo Darmian's first-half goal for the hosts. They now lead the standings with 76 points as a consequence of the outcome.

Leverkusen proceeding as planned

As Bayer Leverkusen defeated Freiburg 3-2 to maintain a 10-point lead over Bayern Munich in the German title race, Patrik Schick scored his first goal in the Bundesliga in three months.
